Information Technology departments are now an integral part of most medium and large companies, as well as a great smaller small ones. Companies that do not have their own departments almost always rely on the services of outside vendors. IT departments are responsible for building and maintaining networks within the company as well as ordering and servicing computers, servers and other equipment. They also install and instruct in the use of software and in many companies, program new software for use by various departments.
