Florida BMO To become certified as a BMO (Basic X-ray Machine Operator) in the state of Florida requires a complete review of the study guide materials or a substantially equivalent program. Medical assistant graduates who have completed the required course in radiography can apply for certification. A person holding a certificate as a basic X-ray machine operator may perform general diagnostic radiographic and general fluoroscopic procedures, specifically excluding nuclear medicine and radiation therapy procedures, under the direct supervision and control of a licensed practitioner in that practitioner's office or in a hospital (capacity must be 150 beds or less).
