Google My Business Announces Temporary Review Responses Limitations

As a result of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, many businesses have chosen to or were forced to make adjustments for the health and safety of their employees and customers/clients. One such company is Google. 

Google recently released an advisory to companies signed up for their Google My Business service that there may be some temporary limitations and delays in support as they prioritize critical services. In the advisory, Google said “Our current focus is on the quality and reliability of information on Google Search and Maps. We want to ensure users and business owners have access to essential features like whether the business is open or has special hours.”

One of the aforementioned limitations is the unavailability of Reviews and Q&A. Until further notice, new reviews, review replies, and all Q&A will be unavailable during this time.

The Google team will be prioritizing reviews for edits critical to health-related businesses. At this time, they will also prioritize reviews for open and closed states, special hours, temporary closures, business descriptions, and business attributes edits for other verified businesses.
