NAYS Goes Online With New Website
StaffSeptember 2023
In the realm of digital marketing and web development, some projects stand out not just for their complexity, but for the unique challenges they bring. One such project was our collaboration with the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS), a renowned organization dedicated to providing online training for coaches, league directors, officials and administrators in youth sports all across the USA.
Our story began several years ago when NAYS approached CPR with a need to have a better service provider available to them for their aging ColdFusion website. The existing vendor had become difficult to reach and slow in achieving the desired outcomes. CPR was able to come in and offer the professionalism necessary and skilled ColdFusion devs to work with the old website and deliver in a timely manner. Along the way, it became evident that a migration to a more modern and widely supported website language would be needed. Unfortunately, ColdFusion, owned by Adobe, was losing its appeal among young developers, making it challenging for NAYS to find the necessary talent to maintain and enhance its platform. Despite ColdFusion's robust capabilities, the lack of developer resources available to code in that language meant that it was time for a change.
CPR recognized that the best scenario for NAYS would entail getting the most out of their existing website, while planning and budgeting for the eventual complete overhaul. A few short years later, we embarked on a journey to build NAYS, a brand-new website, with all its beautiful applications, from the ground up. The vision was clear – a modern, user-friendly platform that seamlessly integrated all their databases and catered to coaches, league directors, officials, parents and administrators. Of course, this would be constructed in the most popular language in the world, PHP, thereby allowing for longevity of the new investment. The journey began with a comprehensive analysis phase, lasting nearly six to seven months. This phase allowed us to understand the project's scope, calculate the costs, and lay out a detailed timeline. Once the analysis was complete, the real work began. Our team meticulously rebuilt the website, keeping a keen eye on every detail. The objective was not just to replicate existing functionality but to enhance it. NAYS needed a cutting-edge platform that could serve its vast user base efficiently.
After a meticulous coding, programming and testing period that lasted over two years, we reached the most rewarding moment – the launch of NAYS' new website in May 2023. The new platform would be able to handle not only the thousands of daily visitors, transactions, and downloads of training resources but it represented a huge step forward with capacity to serve over a million queries at any given moment… which is a good thing given NAYS’ million plus nationwide members. Witnessing the positive impact of our work on such a scale was indeed gratifying.
"I am filled with great pride for the accomplishments of our team at Consult PR that dedicated their expertise and unwavering commitment to making this project a success. The challenges were immense, but their perseverance and problem-solving skills shone through. We are privileged to be a part of the continued success of NAYS and the countless coaches and young athletes they serve."- Chuck Konga, EVP, Consult PR
