Reflecting On 2020 And Looking Forward To What 2021 Has In Store

StaffJanuary 2021

In the first quarter of 2020, no one could have predicted how rapidly or how extensively Covid-19 would change the world. Once the pandemic hit, many of our digital marketing clients smartly decided to cut back on their media buy and overall marketing expenses. While this required us to be nimble and make some tough decisions, we're undoubtedly better off for the experience. Thankfully, three of our four main verticals (website, phone app, and custom software development) helped to keep us relatively stable given their multi-month/ multi-year contract terms.

Even though quite a few of our digital marketing clients decided to tighten their belts and reduce expenditures, we were thankful that there were very few clients that canceled their marketing programs outright. Nevertheless, the reduced income meant that we, like many other businesses, were still impacted. We made some creative decisions with our employee shifts in order to ensure we did not have to let go of/lay off members of our team. Thankfully, we retained pretty much all of our employees, and as of January 4th, 2021, all of our employees are back to full staffing hours. While our firm suffered revenue losses, we did experience some employee growth in the past year. Losses of key individuals by other firms helped us find talented individuals who would probably have not been available to us otherwise. We were also able to implement more professional development opportunities for our team, to make sure any potential downtime would be put to good use. As the saying goes, we definitely made lemonade out of lemons.

Even though 2020 is over, we still have a very uncertain two quarters ahead of us. There is shared optimism that things will get back to normal in late 2021.  We expect our clients will start to look at ways to re-engage their customers with their marketing programs as the year progresses. We also foresee some projects that were supposed to kick off in late 2020, starting this year.

Our main goal is to have 2021 be a year of recovery for our clients. Last year, our clients showed us that relationships matter by sticking with us through tough times and continuing some of their initiatives with us. This year, we will be going above and beyond to aid our clients in their recovery. We will be offering reduced pricing and zero interest in-house financing wherever and whenever we can to both new clients and to our existing clients.

As we cautiously but optimistically step into 2021, we’d like to say thank you to everyone that helped us make it through the past year. We look forward to doing our part to ensure that 2021 is a year of recovery for not only our firm, but more significantly for our clients.
